Finding Obscure Paintings
Does anyone have advice on finding prints of paintings by relatively obscure artists? I’m trying to find prints of the work of Lin Onus; Onus isn’t actually that obscure, although he isn’t a household name. I saw his painting “Gathering Storm” at the Seattle Art Museum just before I moved, and I’ve been trying to track down a print ever since (SAM was very unhelpful).
Any ideas?
you think that is tough? I am trying to track down an obscure painting about a saint in armor carrying kids on his horse and I can’t rememeber the name of the painting or the artist!
I finally found someone at SAM who knows something. She basically said I have to wait an indefinite period of time for them to start producing prints. So, the only options I see are to check back in a few years, or give a largish
bribephilanthropic donation to SAM to get them to make prints of their own paintings. Bah.We just saw this painting on exhibit at SAM yesterday. We loved it too. I stumbled across your website during my own search for prints. So let me know if you have any luck please. (And I’ll be sure to pass along anything that I find)

Yes, that was the painting that left the biggest impression on me at SAM. I stood there looking at it for 10 minutes. Glad others feel the same way too. I really need that print to.
I also just recently had the pleasure of experiencing this incredible painting at SAM - it actually moved my mother in a way I’ve never seen before. I’m hoping to find a print also (I have just emailed the fireworks gallery in AU as Jason above suggested) but would also appreciate any other leads.
I emailed the fireworks gallery and they told me that they do not have it, but they are also looking for a place to purchase prints. So far no luck…I love how many people were moved by this piece! I will keep searching and let you all know what I find.

Try Picturestore.com.au. I am pleased to know that you like the onus painting. He did a series of fish paintings - i.e with the Australian aboriginal “trademark” patterns and colours on the fishes. I bought one of them ages ago for a small amount. You may be interested to know that he had painted the same patterns and colours on frogs, stingrays, etc.
Wow, I just saw this work at SAM and I loved it instantly. Just got online looking for a print for my dull office as this would be perfect to look at everyday…Hopefully we can find some soon! Nice to know others were touched by this painting as well!
